Rosalyn Ferrer, 50, and Rommel Basco, 55, from Pampanga, Philippines, have been together for 24 years.
They have six children. The family lives among garbage in a wasteland. Their house is a shack built with what is found in the landfill.
Every day for this family is a fight for survival.
They sort the rubbish, collect plastic and deliver it from morning to night to somehow feed a large family.
And so day after day, year after year. Despite the difficulties, true love and mutual assistance reign in their small home.
Richard Strandz, the owner of a small barbershop located near the area where the family lives, said he had noticed this couple for some time.
The most important thing he always pays attention to is the kindness, love and warmth with which Rosalyn and Rommel treat each other and their children.
Richard discovered that the couple were not officially married. But Rosalyn once, as a child, dreamed of a beautiful wedding.
It is clear that they cannot afford even the most modest celebration. Richard was moved by their story and he contacted friends who also have small businesses and proposed the idea of organizing a small charity wedding.
Everyone was delighted. After learning of the surprise, Rosalyn and Rommel couldn’t hold back their tears.
Dresses were chosen for the lovers, Rosalyn got wonderful style and makeup, delicacies were prepared for the whole family.
The photographer took a photo of a couple at their home and walked around the area with them a bit.
After Rosalyn and Rommel’s documents are restored, Richard and his friends will pay for their temple ceremony.
