In a YouTube video, a father asks his young daughter to sing “Old MacDonald Had a Farm,” and she responds with an adorable remix of the traditional children’s song. It’s really cute to hear him mumble between verses before starting the song again.
Parents have been singing a variety of nursery rhymes to their children for many years.
No matter the age at which they are born, these timeless melodies and nursery rhymes are passed down from generation to generation and continue to delight children.
According to CSU Fresno, the nursery rhyme “Old Macdougal Had a Farm” dates back to 1917, on which “Old MacDonald Had a Farm” is based.
The original song has remained popular ever since, but this girl decided to give it a slight remix twist.
She sings a nursery rhyme based on each of the five finger puppets, which depict a cow, a pig, a dog, a cat and a duck, using a book as a guide which also has five attached finger puppets.
She changes the finger puppet in his hand between each line and correctly names and describes the animal it represents, as well as its cry.
Through the precise vocalization of each species, she effectively conveys her growing knowledge of animals. His imitation of the duck cry is perfect!
