For over five decades, Jim Annis, a former military man, has been crafting hundreds of wooden toys for underprivileged children in North Carolina every Christmas.
The kind-hearted veteran tirelessly carries out his work with sincere dedication to make children’s holidays extraordinary. His toys are handmade.
While he may not be Santa Claus himself, the generous man works hard to meet deadlines and finish his work before Christmas.
The veteran knows firsthand what it means to spend Christmas day without any gifts. He wants every child to feel happy and joyful during the holidays.
Reflecting on his own childhood, the veteran recalls growing up in a large family and how it wasn’t easy for his parents to take care of five children at the time.
He never received any Christmas presents.
Drawing from his own experience, he doesn’t want a single child to wake up without toys on Christmas morning.
Annis crafts cars, dolls, fire trucks, piggy banks, and more. He learned how to make wooden toys while in high school.
He doesn’t make money from making toys. It’s all done on a voluntary basis.
Thanks to donations from generous people, he was able to make over 600 toys in 2020.
