This couple from Austin, Texas, has been together for eight decades, so you might want to take their advice and follow some marriage advice.
Last week, John and Charlotte Henderson, the world’s oldest couple, celebrated a significant anniversary with the help of their loved ones.
Their 80th wedding anniversary was commemorated with their family and friends at a reception organized in their retirement community, Longhorn Village.
According to the Guinness World Records, John, 106 years old, and Charlotte, 105 years old, are the world’s oldest married couple.
They got married on December 22, 1939, just a few months before the outbreak of World War II.
Before the festivities began, John surprised Charlotte with a beautiful bouquet of flowers in a 1920s roadster, similar to the one he used on their first date all those years ago.
A slideshow of their photographs over the years was displayed, and there was an abundance of food.
Jason Free, who informed Guinness about his great-uncle and great-aunt, described the trait he admired most in them.
According to him, they don’t dwell in the past. The refrain, “Oh, if only it were still 1952, everything would be fine,” is not repeated. They haven’t given up on a shared future.
Besides their extraordinary longevity, Jason says that’s what sets them apart. John will never forget the first time he saw his future wife in class.
In my eyes I don’t believe that they are the age they say they are. I’ve seen people that are 100 and they are wrinkled and can’t hardly move. But that is my opinion.
