This sight sparked the idea in Kara to build a timber-frame house. After all, such a structure could easily be constructed on her own.
Her children were 2, 11, 15, and 17 years old at that time.
To execute the planned project, she had to take out a $150,000 loan from a bank. Armed with building materials and YouTube videos, the whole family set to work to construct a large house.
They learned how to pour concrete, lay drywall, lay bricks, and most importantly, how to coordinate their efforts together.

“Building a house with no experience was incredibly naive, but sometimes courage hides behind naiveté,” admits Kara.
The house turned out to be huge—1066 square meters! It has everything one needs and more: 5 bedrooms, a spacious 3-car garage, a workshop, and a large living room.
