Does being an only child or having one or more siblings influence your personality? This question interests many researchers.
According to the findings of research conducted by the University of Montfort and Ulster, having a sister has a very captivating effect, for example.
According to numerous studies, having a sister could bring you more happiness and even more optimism.
Let’s be honest, those who have a sister know how (formerly) she can sometimes annoy you.
However, you can be greatly rewarded! Research shows that having a sister actually brings more happiness and optimism in life.
Scientists from two higher education institutions, the University of Montfort in Leicester, England, and Ulster in Ireland, analyzed the behaviors of 570 individuals between 17 and 25 years old.
According to The Mirror, they were asked several questions about different topics, including mental health.
The scientists concluded that those who had sisters had been encouraged by their sisters in their youth to express their emotions more.
This would have allowed them to develop a more positive outlook on life.
Researcher Tonny Casidy, who led the study, said, “Sisters seem to promote more open communication and stronger family bonds.”
He continued, “Explaining feelings is crucial for a good psychological balance, and having sisters can make a difference in a family.”
It turns out that brothers have the opposite effect. “It is possible that boys have an intrinsic tendency not to discuss subjects,” said Casidy.
However, studies also show that brothers benefit from many advantages as long as there is an affectionate relationship.
Whether it’s a brother, a sister, or an only child, everyone is different.
Studies are always worth considering, it’s really fascinating.
