A resident of the US state of Michigan won the main prize of the national Powerball lottery.
Joni Thompson, 54, decided to play for the first time in her life and immediately grabbed her luck by the tail, according to the Michigan Lottery website.
The jackpot size was $1 million. The woman said she bought her winning ticket in a supermarket, tempted by the publicity of the main prize. But she didn’t expect him to get it.
She saw the message that someone from her town won $1 million on social media. After that, the woman decided to check her numbers on the ticket and compare them with the results of the last draw.
“When I realized I had guessed all five numbers and became the big winner, I couldn’t hold back my tears! I asked my son to scan my ticket into the lottery app to make sure I got everything correct.
I can’t convey my feelings from such a victory, I still can’t come to my senses,” Thompson said.
The woman shared her plans on how she was going to spend her prize.
Part of the money will be invested in the development of the business, the rest will be left in a savings account. She came to the company office to win with her son.
The lottery organizers noted that in the history of the Powerball game, record winnings amounted to more than $2 billion, and the ticket itself could be purchased for $2.
