A firefighter suddenly took on the role of a midwife during an otherwise average November evening in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
He had no idea he would have a daughter that same evening.
When Marc Hadden received the call about the woman in labor, he said he didn’t have time to transport her to the hospital.
Despite his lack of medical knowledge, Hadden helped deliver a healthy baby girl who was quickly put up for adoption.
Hadden’s wife, Beth, believed that Grace’s entrance into their lives was predestined.
Grace was adopted by the couple and moved in with them 48 hours after the papers were signed.
“We prayed long and hard about adoption before we decided to leave it up to God. ‘If it’s meant to be, it will be,’ we predicted,” they said.
Grace turned the Hadden family from four to five members in one eventful night.
Beth says that after signing the documents, the first thing she said to Marc was, “Oh my God, we have to pay for a wedding!” My first thought was, “Huh?” Having two boys, I couldn’t help but chuckle and say, “Having a daughter is so different!”
Family and friends were so touched by the couple’s adoption that they pooled their resources to help them build an addition to their home so that Grace could have her own room.
