One might ask what the difficulties are in planting trees. In reality, it requires quite a bit of effort.
For example, even a healthy adult man needs strength to dig a hole,
then fill it with water, and finally plant a sapling in the hole and cover it with soil.
But what about people with health problems or the elderly?
Today, our story is about a man who, despite his age and health limitations, has planted around 17,000 trees.
Ma Sanxiao is 70 years old and lives in the village of Mayu, where he has been engaged in very noble activities for 20 years: planting trees.
Over the years, Ma has planted an entire large forest. As a child, Ma wanted to be in the army.
Immediately after graduating, he went to serve in the army. However, he only served for three years because he contracted an infection.
After a while, Ma developed sepsis. He returned home, started working as a teacher, and then began farming.
Gradually, the infection took its toll: Ma had both of his legs amputated.
At that time, Ma’s family was deeply in debt. After all, they had to pay a substantial amount for his medical care.
But the relatives still hoped to save at least one of Ma’s legs. However, Sanxiao himself did not lose heart.
He decided to help the family repay the debt. And he started planting trees.
Regularly, since 2000, early in the morning as the sun rises, this Chinese man rides a scooter and goes to work outside the village.
He brings a shovel with a pickaxe and food for the entire day. Upon arriving at the site, Ma removes his prosthetics, puts on gloves, and crawls to plant trees.
In addition to being difficult, it is also dangerous. Sanxiao’s noble activities became known to local authorities.
They paid off all of Ma’s family loans. And he himself has not stopped planting trees. However, now he does it as a gesture of gratitude.
He says he intends to increase the number of green spaces until his last days. Of course, the time will come when Ma goes to another world.
But the memory of him and these thousands of new trees will remain forever. A deep bow to this simple but determined man named Ma!
